A car which ploughed into a house leaving a scene of devastation was being chased by police. Dramatic pictures show the wreckage left behind after an Audi S4 smashed through metal railings on Rochdale Road and crashed into a home on the street.

Three houses were left with damage after the smash at around 2am on Wednesday (January 26). The Audi failed to stop and a pursuit began, before the car collided with a house. Following the smash, the occupants of the vehicle fled the scene.

No arrests have been made and police say their enquiries are ongoing. One of the homes had its windows completely smashed through, and had to be boarded up with debris piled up in front of the house.
