Diggers have been deployed to a beach car park in Anglesey that's been swamped by wind-blown sand. New drifts had covered the site to the point where at least one visitor's car got stuck and required towing from the popular North Wales site, which is situated in front of the stunning Traeth Llanddwyn.
Nestled on the edge of Newborough Forest, the car park, with a capacity for around 400 vehicles, frequently faces access issues due to storms that shift vast amounts of sand from the beach—often lauded as one of the UK's most beautiful for its breath-taking scenery.
In January 2024, visitors were greeted with large swathes of the beach stripped to stones and rocks, prompting the advice: "If you're looking for the sand, it's in the car park".
Natural Resources Wales (NRW), responsible for managing Newborough Forest and its dunes, is constantly battling against the encroachment of sand, reports North Wales Live.
