However, it wasn't only the films grabbing attention. Early in the evening, host Conan O'Brien teased Sandler over his casual ensemble during a funny bit.
Spotted in the crowd, the Happy Gilmore actor stood out in his bright blue hoodie and gym shorts amid the sea of formal wear.
After being ribbed, Sandler made a swift exit, but not before barking "Chalamet" in the young actor's direction. Lip reading expert Jeremy Freeman has since decoded what exactly Chalamet said in response.
