Cannes Film Festival delays press conference by one week; Official selections expected to be larger than ever

While there have been live-action adaptations of the hit Xbox sci-fi shooter video game series, “Halo,” in the past, Paramount+ will be the home to a very ambitious show that sees various characters like Master Chief get live-action counterparts. The expensive series seems to have won over the brass at Paramount after a very long and drawn-out production in Budapest during the pandemic.

Writer/director/creator/showrunner Taylor Sheridan is practically a streaming service unto himself. Thanks to the success of his “Yellowstone” modern Western/family/crime series, which is the biggest hit on television right now and a massive boon to Paramount and its streaming service Paramount+ Sheridan can do whatever he wants.

Showtime has renewed its hit series for Season 7.

Paramount+, which has been rolling out to dozens of global territories over the past year, will reach the key European market of France as part of a wide-ranging partnership with Canal+.

Elsa Keslassy International CorrespondentTwo weeks before Cannes unveils its Official Selection lineup, Thierry Fremaux, the artistic director and general delegate of the Cannes Film Festival, caught up with Variety about his selection process in pandemic times; the changes the festival will be introducing this year, beginning with an expanded out of competition section to host anticipated films; his dialogue with U.S. studios and filmmakers, as well as Netflix; and the health protocols in place on the ground.With more live events and outdoor screenings planned, the summer 2021 edition is set to be a celebration of films and moviegoing.
