A woman who credits running with helping her recover from cancer is allowing people of all abilities to get moving for a good cause.
Susan Wheatcroft is the founder of Virtual Runner, which boasts dozens of virtual races you can walk, jog or run at any time or location, at any pace, inside or outside.
Susan explained: "Virtual Runner has brought together a unique community of runners from across the UK and beyond. "It's breaking down barriers to physical activity and inspiring thousands to get active - all while raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity. "Some use our races as training during preparation for bigger events, while others use them as goals to help overcome personal battles, like recovering from cancer or rehabilitation after a stroke, for example. "Of course, others simply enjoy running for fun and collecting their medals!" Susan has first-hand experience of the benefits that running can bring.
In 2021, she needed major surgery to remove her thyroid due to a 9cm lump in her throat which was later diagnosed as cancer.
