Cancer charity's financial support for Lanarkshire residents

A cancer charity is providing more than £139,000 in funding to North Lanarkshire’s welfare benefits service to assist patients and their families amid the “deepening” cost of living crisis.Macmillan cancer support is supporting the council’s Tackling Poverty service to “help people with cancer cope with the huge financial pressures many face as a result of the illness”.

The charity issued nearly £124,000 in grants during 2021 to North Lanarkshire residents with cancer – along with a further £66,500 to people living in South Lanarkshire – to help towards essential costs including energy bills and travel to hospital appointments.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
