Manchester United have not registered Manuel Ugarte in time for him to be available against Liverpool this weekend. Ugarte needed to be registered with the Premier League by 12noon on Friday but sources have confirmed the deadline has been missed and he will not be available at Old Trafford on Sunday.
United felt it was always a stretch for Ugarte, who arrived in Manchester on Tuesday night, to be involved against Liverpool due to his lack of minutes in pre-season.
The announcement of Ugarte's arrival from Paris Saint-Germain is set to be announced imminently. United agreed a deal of €50million (£42.3m), with a further €10m (£8.5m) in add-ons, to sign the defensive midfielder and he is expected to sign a five year contract with the club. The 23-year-old will be the fifth signing of this window, joining Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, who signed from Bologna, Lille and Bayern Munich respectively.
