Bury have found themselves under new local lockdown restrictions this morning (July 31) despite the borough reporting fewer than five cases a day.
Last night, Matt Hancock announced that Greater Manchester and other areas in the UK would be locked back down after an alarming increase in infection rates in some boroughs.
In Greater Manchester, the likes of Oldham and Trafford had both started to see a spike but for Bury, the news seems to have come as something of a surprise.
Deputy Leader of Bury Council Tamoor Tariq said: "There's certainly a sense of frustration around the last minute announcement by the government and that's what has caused a lot of concerns within the community.
