Millions of people living in the North of England were given a lockdown bombshell as new restrictions were suddenly put in place with less than four hours' notice.
Shortly after 9pm, Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced that from midnight, people from different households in Greater Manchester, parts of Lancashire and parts of Yorkshire were no longer allowed to meet indoors.
Not surprisingly, this did not go down well with many. To make matters worse, Mr Hancock did not confirm whether pubs, restaurants, shops and other recently-reopened businesses would be forced to shut.
More than two hours later there was still no clarity, although Mirror Online understands businesses are allowed to stay open.
