Armed police were forced to taser and shoot a savage bully-type dog FOUR times to save its owner's life.Officers were called after the animal - that had been rescued just 'two weeks ago' - mauled two men in Hamilton on Tuesday afternoon. The attack left one victim with serious lower limb injuries.Locals described how a knife was 'thrown to the owner' to try and kill the dog.

He stabbed it a number of times, but it 'didn't make any difference'.One eyewitness, Kevin, told the Record nothing could be done to pull the crazed animal off its victim. The 52-year-old said: "I heard a lot of commotion and looked out the window to see two men wrestling with the dog. "It was a big dog, probably about eight or nine stone.

The dog had a hold of one of the guys and wouldn't let go. "He added: "They were hitting it with stuff and shouting at it to stop, but it was so distressed and angry. "It just seemed like it had turned.

I phoned the police right away and when they came the dog was still attacking anyone who went near it. One of the guys managed to get away but the owner was still being attacked. "Police showed up and tasered him but he still wouldn't stop. "The armed police then came and he was shot 4 times.
