Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. Fernandes started his career at Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A.

In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga. He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Bruno Fernandes showed off his defensive credentials as he gave Aaron Wan-Bissaka a taste of his own medicine, impressing Manchester United fans.

The Portuguese midfielder arrived from Sporting Lisbon in January in a £46.3m transfer. With three goals and four assists, the 25-year-old has blown fans away with his attacking abilities.

But footage has emerged of Fernandes showing he can put in a good shift in at the back.In the clip, the Red Devils are running a training game at Carrington, with players split between red tops and green bibs.The ball spills out to the left, with Wan-Bissaka and the midfielder both nearest to it.And the pair start jostling with each other, Fernandes taking on the man with the second-most successful tackles in.
