Brits travelling to Europe are being warned that new security restrictions and rules are being installed which will impact on what they can pack in their luggage.
EU officials have now imposed new measures from the start of September. Despite a government mandate for all airports to install advanced scanners that would allow up to two litres of liquids in carry-ons, major European and UK hubs have now been ordered to pause the introduction due to concerns over the scanners.
The new restriction introduces as of 1 September 2024 meaning there is now a 100ml limitation for individual containers of liquids, removing the main benefit to passengers which would have come from the new scanners reports Majorca Daily Bulletin.
Changes to the 100ml liquids rule and installation of the hi-tech scanners was first announced in 2018 to ensure staff and passengers could move more efficiently.
