Every single item of clothing you own contains several symbols and people are only just realising what they mean.The answer, as it turns out, is not at all obvious but ignoring it could have dire consequences for the lifespan of your favourite t-shirts, jumpers and jeans.There are up to five key symbols printed on the label of every piece of clothing but most people haven't the faintest clue what many of them mean and could be exposing their favourite outfits to harm and even a shortened life expectancy with every wash.

But many people would not be able to tell you what the triangle means.The white triangle on clothes labels can take four forms; an empty triangle, a triangle with a cross through it, and a triangle with two diagonal lines through it.
It could also be a triangle with CL inside and a cross through. As it happens, these are all to do with bleach. An empty triangle – this means you can bleach this item.
