A British couple have been found dead in their holiday home in France after a potential "burglary gone wrong".The bodies were found by a neighbour on Thursday, February 6.

Although French authorities have not confirmed their identities, they did disclose they were of a man and woman in their sixties, that were both British nationals.Our sister title The Mirror reports that it is not revealing the location of the house in the south west of France, to prevent the couple being identified before the authorities notify their next-of-kin.An investigating source said police were looking at the theory that the deaths were linked to a "burglary gone wrong".

They said: "The house is very isolated, close to thick woods, and it may have been targeted."A neighbour who goes on long walks with the couple discovered the bodies when he called round to see them.

He is currently speaking to detectives."The couple were said to have owned the property and used it as a holiday home, and were "extremely popular" with the locals.
