A sergeant has been killed in a shooting accident on a training area, the British Army has said. The soldier was wounded during a live firing exercise at the Castlemartin Training Area in Pembrokeshire, and died on Thursday night.
It is believed that the man, who had served in Iraq and Afghanistan, was a member of the Welsh Guards. The soldier was training with live ammunition ahead of a planned deployment to Iraq this summer.
Friends have paid tribute to him on social media and his heartbroken dad said he died “doing the job he loved”, the Sun reports.
