Millions tuned in to episode one which aired on Saturday night (April 20), officially kicking off the 2024 series. According to ITV, the audience peaked with a massive 5.6 million viewers (5m Ave.) with a 39% share, making it the network's biggest overnight audience of the year so far since The FA Cup quarter-final match last month.
The first show of the double-bill weekend also saw unusual singers and astounding dogs take to the stage, to impress judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli while a singer and a South Korean martial arts troupe quick to be awarded the coveted golden buzzer. And there were emotional scenes when an eight-year-old boy with a brain tumour along with his choir who also secured the coveted golden buzzer from a crying Alesha Dixon.
