Britain’s Got Talent fans couldn’t hide their disappointment on Sunday when comedian Viggo Venn scooped this year’s win, despite some stiff competition from several other acts.
Over 100 fans were so unimpressed by the result in fact, that they contacted broadcasting regulator OFCOM to complain, despite the result being decided by a public vote on 4 June.
Norwegian performer Viggo controversially won the 2023 series of BGT after reportedly bagging just 22% of the public vote. According to OFCOM, around 116 viewers complained about the end result, while a further 100 viewers also complained about comments made by new judge Bruno Tonioli earlier in the week - including some instances of swearing.
The majority of the complaints were said to be about the final winner result, which shocked performer Viggo just as much as it did the viewing public, prompting him to admit "it wasn't his fault” in a baffling interview on ITV’s Lorraine.
