Edward Christopher Sheeran, MBE (born 17 February 1991) is an English singer-songwriter. In early 2011, Sheeran independently released the extended play, No. 5 Collaborations Project. After signing with Asylum Records, his debut album, + (pronounced "plus"), was released in September 2011. It topped the UK and Australian charts, reached number five in the US, and has since been certified eight-times platinum in the UK.
The album contains the single "The A Team", which earned him the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. In 2012, Sheeran won the Brit Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. "The A Team" was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards, where he performed the song with Elton John.
THE Brit Awards 2022 ceremony kicks off TONIGHT, with singing sensation Adele making a rare live appearance. Tonight's star-studded Brits bash - which airs from 8pm on ITV - will feature performances from Ed Sheeran, Liam Gallagher & Little Simz.
And pop superstar Adele - who also leads the pack with four gong nominations - will also perform during the awards ceremony.
Radio DJ Clara Amfo and broadcaster Maya Jama will welcome award nominees during the red carpet show, with the good and great of the music world attending London's O2 Arena.
Comedian Mo Gilligan will host this year's ceremony, replacing Jack Whitehall who has helmed the event in recent years. The news comes after Grammy-winning singer postponed her Las Vegas Caesars Palace residency at short notice, with Grammy-winning country music star Keith Urban stepping in to replace her.
