After his iconic turn as ruthless media mogul Logan Roy in Succession, it was only a matter of time before Brian Cox was cast as a Bond villain - he just didn’t expect it to be in a game show.
The 77-year-old stars as The Controller in Amazon Prime Video’s latest reality competition 007: Road To A Million, which gives ordinary people the chance to win £1 million by enduring various James Bond -esque challenges.
Playing the mastermind behind the contestants’ spy trials, Brian admits that the role is “unusual territory” for him. “I’m always up for a new adventure.That’s how you keep young when you get to my age, by not ruling anything out,” he says. “You just go, ‘Okay, I’ll see what happens.
And I really enjoyed it.” The award-winning actor reveals that he was at a career crossroads after Succession aired its final series this year. “It’s very hard when you go from a show like Succession and try to work out what you’re going to do next: it’s what I would call bobbing and weaving,” he smiles. “But now I can finally say I’ve been in a Bond production.
