Labour has refused to rule out abstaining in a historic vote on any Brexit trade deal. Party chiefs admitted it was possible they might not vote decisively one way or the other if the Prime Minister gets a last-minute pact.

Boris Johnson sent his chief negotiator to Brussels today for 36 hours of talks to break a deadlock on three key issues - fishing, following EU rules and who polices the terms of a deal.
