William John Paul Gallagher (born 21 September 1972) is an English singer and songwriter. He rose to fame as the lead singer of the rock band Oasis in the 1990s and 2000s, and later fronted the rock band Beady Eye in the early 2010s, before beginning a solo career after the dissolution of both bands. One of the most recognisable figures in British music, he is noted for his outspoken and abrasive manner; penchant for wearing parkas; distinctive singing style, in which he elongates vowels; and signature stance on stage, which consists of him holding his arms behind his back and singing up into a downward-facing microphone.

Oasis star Bonehead has announced he has been diagnosed with cancer and has pulled out of upcoming shows with the band. The group's founder took to social media to announce the news on Tuesday afternoon (April 26).

The musician, whose real name is Paul Arthurs, is widely known as the rhythm guitarist, keyboardist and co-founder of English rock band Oasis.

He was set to join Liam Gallagher on his upcoming shows at Manchester's Etihad and Knebworth Park. The Manchester-born singer confirmed it was tonsil cancer that doctors diagnosed him with and that he is due to start treatment soon.

In a statement on Tuesday, the musician, aged 56, said: "Just to let you all know I'm going to be taking a break from playing for a while.
