Brazil hero Cafu insists he was always sure Casemiro would shine in the Premier League following his transfer to Manchester United last season.
Some had suggested the midfielder had secured his £70m switch as an end-of-career move after a trophy-laden spell at Real Madrid, but the 31-year-old proved that theory wrong by being one of United’s best players last season.
The pivot was instrumental in United’s top-four finish and League Cup success, having netted in the final at Wembley. He ended up with seven goals and six assists in his maiden campaign.
Four goals and three assists came in the Premier League, a return that didn’t surprise fellow countryman Cafu. “I had no doubts under any circumstances that Casemiro would adapt to the Premier League,” the two-time World Cup winner told FUTBIN.
