A 16-year-old boy has been arrested after being found with a huge knife hidden in his waistband at a train station in Manchester city centre.
Police officers carried out a stop-and-search on the teenager at Manchester Victoria station last night (Tuesday). They found the 16-inch knife tucked into the waistband of his trousers.
The teenager was taken into police custody. Officers said his parents were 'making their way down' after his arrest. A tweet posted on the GMP City Centre account said: "16yr old male arrested this evening by #GMPTransportUnit at Victoria train station after being stop/searched by officers and found in possession of a 16 inch knife in his waistband. "Now in custody whilst parents make their way down #bootsontheground @MCRMetrolink."
