An eight-year-old boy has died following a collision in Greater Manchester. The tragedy happened shortly after 8.15pm on Thursday, when police were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.
A boy had begun to cross the road in Ashton-Under-Lyne when he was struck by a black BMW. He was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries, but medics were unable to save his life.
A 33-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving has been re-arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He was also arrested for driving otherwise in accordance with a driving licence and not having third party insurance in place.
