A primary school child was 'flattened' when a whiteboard fell on top of him in his classroom. Seven-year-old Elias was struck by the smart board after it became detached from a wall, leaving the young boy in a 'tremendous amount of pain'.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) found that the initial installation had not met industry standards, leaving little Elias to fall victim.
Now his family have spoken out over fears other schoolchildren could be at risk if similar boards have not been installed properly.
Matthew Batchelor, Elias' dad, is urging headteachers across the country to check the safety of their smartboards. Recalling the incident, he told BirminghamLive: "It flattened him.
