Boris Johnson has refused to rule out ending national lockdown measures in England in December - even if infection rates remain high.

Labour leader Keir Starmer challenged the Prime Minister to say whether the four-week lockdown would end "come what may" and said it would be "madness" to come out of the restrictions if the virus is still spreading rapidly.

Mr Johnson said the measures would end automatically on December 2 under law - but failed to say whether he would renew them if the virus was still spreading rapidly.
