Boris Johnson hosted a baby shower for Carrie Symonds at Chequers just days before lockdown, according to reports. The Prime Minister threw the party for his fiancee just two days before he told the British public "now is the time for everyone to stop non-essential contact with others", according to Private Eye magazine.
The couple announced the birth of a baby boy named Wilfred on 29th April. The party is understood to have been held on 14th March - around a month before the baby's birth and around a week before the UK went in to lockdown.
The following Monday Mr Johnson said in a press conference: "Now is the time for everyone to stop non-essential contact with others and to stop all unnecessary travel.
