An oil rig worker who was six times the drink drive limit parked outside a police station when he realised he was too intoxicated to continue driving, a court heard.
James Brown had already been reported by another motorist who encountered him heading towards his car on the wrong side of the road in Bathgate, West Lothian.The concerned citizen turned his vehicle round and followed Brown, who was driving at low speeds of about 10mph, Livingston Sheriff Court was told.
Katie Deans, prosecuting, said: “The accused’s vehicle turned into South Bridge Street, Bathgate, pulling into a bus stop opposite Bathgate Police Station.
Police attended and the accused was still in the driver’s seat with the engine running.“The accused was clearly under the influence of alcohol.
