The bomb squad was deployed and a police station was cordoned off after 'ammunition' was found in a river in south Manchester.
Police said the items were found in the River Mersey, near Harefield Drive in Didsbury, at around 2.30pm yesterday (Tuesday).
Officers were scrambled to the scene, alongside incident commanders from the fire service and ambulance service. The items were seized and taken to West Didsbury Police Station on Elizabeth Slinger Road.
