Body of man found on North West beach is missing man, say police

A body found on a beach in Merseyside is that of a missing man, police have confirmed. The grim was discovery was made at around on Ainsdale beach, near Southport at around 1:30pm on Wednesday, December 4 The body has now been formally identified as being that of Neil Drummond, Merseyside Police said.

He had been reported missing after last being seen on Barkfield Lane in Southport at around 5pm on Monday, December 2. The 48-year-old's family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers, the Liverpool Echo reports. Emergency services attended the scene last week and the body was recovered from Ainsdale beach by HM Coastguard. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a large emergency services presence in Ainsdale, including police and the coastguard.
