Two walks in the North West have been named among the best in the UK for Boxing Day, according to a new study. Going for a walk is a festive tradition for many families and a chance to walk off all that indulgent food, whether it's a wander on Boxing Day, a hearty hike at Twixmas or a relaxed stroll on New Year’s Day.
Selecting the right location is a key to a good winter walk, and regional experts from David Wilson Homes have compiled a list of the best easy walks in the UK.
They selected two in the North West, one of which is just over the border in Lancashire. Beacon Fell in the Forest of Bowland National Landscape (formerly an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) was featured.
There’s a circular walk you can complete near Garstang which is around 1.6miles in distance, taking you through stunning pine trees.
