Adil Iqbal, 22, had pleaded guilty to killing Frankie Jules-Hough, 38, in a motorway crash and causing serious injury to her son Thomas, 9.
Her other son Rocky, two, was also in the car, as was her nephew Tobias, four, who was also badly hurt in the incident on the M66 in Bury, Greater Manchester, on 13 May.
Frankie played Jess in the soap between 2000 and 2001 but had also acted in shows including Heartbeat, Merseybeat and Where The Heart Is.
