Blayne Alexander Joins NBC’s Long-Running ‘Dateline’
variety.comBrian Steinberg Senior TV Editor Blayne Alexander is joining an exclusive club — the coterie of veteran correspondents who lead NBC News‘ long-running “Dateline.” The weekly true-crime documentary show has developed into a significant stand-alone business that comprises not only the TV program, but podcasts and a very well-watched library that fuels both re-airs on cable and streams on various digital platforms.
Alexander, who is returning from maternity leave, joins a team of correspondents that includes Andrea Canning, Josh Mankiewicz, Keith Morrison, and Dennis Murphy.
Lester Holt anchors the program each week with an introduction. Alexander joined NBC News in 2019, and is based in Atlanta. Before becoming a national correspondent, she spent two years as Washington correspondent for NBC News Channel, reporting on the Trump administration for NBC affiliate stations nationwide.
She joins as a “Dateline” rival is also adding a new staffer to its ranks. Anne-Marie Green, a longtime anchor of CBS News’ early-morning broadcast and, most recently, its live-streaming service, was in August named a correspondent on CBS News’ “48 Hours.” She joins the show’s other correspondents, who include Peter Van Sant, Erin Moriarty and Natalie Morales. “Blayne Alexander is an outstanding journalist who brings depth and perspective to every story she tells.
