Billy Joel said today that he has postponed eight tour dates to recover from surgery for an undisclosed “medical condition.” The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer posted on Instagram that he will “undergo physical therapy under the supervision of his doctors.” See the rescheduled tour dates below. “While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first,” Joel said in the statement (see the post below). “I look forward to getting back on stage and sharing the joy of live music with our amazing fans.
Thank you for your understanding.” He is expected to make a full recovery. The stadium tour was set to kick off Saturday in Toronto, with Stevie Nicks also on the bill.
Four of the reskedded dates feature Sting. Nine of Joel’s scheduled summer concerts will go on as planned. In February 2024, the multiplatinum singer and pianist released his first new single since 2007, titled “Turn the Lights Back On,” and a month later he played his 100th concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden — a venue he has sold out more than any other act.
CBS in April aired a commemorative special, 100th: Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden -The Greatest Arena Run of All Time. The network re-aired the special a week later after its signal cut out in many part of the U.S.
