The Italian boss worked with Gilmour during their time at Chelsea and has now landed his man in a £13.5m move as the 23-year-old prepares to join international teammate Scott McTominay in Naples.
And he’s penned a five-year deal.The deal has been on the brink of collapsing after Matt O'Riley picked up a serious injury just days after his big-money move from Celtic - leaving Gilmour in limbo with the clock ticking down on an English Premier League exit.
However, the clubs eventually came to an agreement after the Rangers academy graduate requested to leave the AMEX Stadium for a crack at Italian football.Brighton technical director David Weir said: “Billy quickly established himself as a popular figure in the dressing room and was a key player last season when we competed in the Europa League for the first time.
