Brighton confirm Roberto De Zerbi as new manager after Graham Potter exit
Brighton have confirmed Roberto De Zerbi as new manager on a four-year contract subject to a work permit following Graham Potter's move to Chelsea earlier this month.The club state that the 42-year-old agreed terms with the club on Sunday afternoon having met with Tony Bloom, Paul Barber and David Weir in London to discuss the role.Chairman Tony Bloom said: "I am absolutely thrilled Roberto has agreed to become our new head coach. Roberto's teams play an exciting and courageous brand of football, and I am confident his style and tactical approach will suit our existing squad superbly."READ MORE: Brighton star admits Chelsea transfer would be 'dream' as he eyes Graham Potter reunionDe Zerbi most recently spent time as manager of Sassuolo and Shakhtar Donetsk having played for AC Milan and Napoli during his professional playing career.The 43-year-old led Sassuolo to consecutive eighth place finishes in Serie A before leaving at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.He then won 20 of his 30 matches in charge of Shakhtar between May and July of 2021, leaving because of the situations that emerged following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.Prior to those spells, De Zerbi managed Darfo Boario, Foggia, Palermo and Benevento in Italy having retired from playing in 2013 - usually opting for a 4-2-3-1 formation while encouraging his players to build attacks from the back.Where will Brighton finish in the Premier League this season?
