Billy Gilmour has left Scotland boss Steve Clarke with a huge selection dilemma as he prepares to name his squad to face Cyprus and Spain at Hampden later this month. The 21-year-old was a shining light for the national team during Euro 2020 and earned a £9million switch from Chelsea to Brighton last summer.
But with then Seagull's head coach Graham Potter moving the other way just eight days after the transfer, Gilmour's career has stalled as a result of a lack of game time coupled with multiple injury lay-offs.That was exemplified by Gilmour's omission in Brighton's matchday squad for their English Premier League clash with Leeds United today.
The midfielder had made his return to the bench against West Ham last weekend after a month on the treatment table however it appears he has ruptured the same injury once again.
Gilmour has fierce competition for his position at club and international level and has only played 161 minutes of football this season in England's top-flight.
