Thania Garcia Beyoncé is now the most RIAA certified female artist of all time with 103 certified titles across her discography, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced Tuesday. “We are so excited to recognize the incredible talent, hard work and creative spirit reflected across diverse genres,” said RIAA President & COO Michele Ballantyne. “Beyoncé’s iconic catalogue has earned the achievement of most certified titles for a female artist in RIAA’s history.
Congratulations on this crowning milestone, Beyoncé, Parkwood Entertainment, Columbia Records — and we see you, BeyHive, streaming on repeat!” Created by the RIAA in 1958 to honor artists and create a standard to measure the commercial success of a sound recording, the Gold & Platinum Awards Program is the industry’s premier barometer for recognizing artistic achievement in the music marketplace.
The program trademarked the Gold Record (500,000 units) and initiated the practice of presenting awards to artists for music sales achievements.
Later came the Platinum Award (1,000,000), Multi-Platinum Award (2,000,000 plus) and the Diamond Award (10,000,000 plus). Certifications must be applied for by the artist’s teams.
