A local from Benidorm has expressed concerns that the Spanish tourism industry "might" be on the brink of collapse. Ana, who runs the popular YouTube channel 'Benidorm by Ana', boasts more than 17,000 subscribers and shares insights from the holiday hotspot.
In a recent video, she revealed that hotels in Benidorm were at 90% capacity last month, something "no one expected" considering it's now off-peak season. "The places are still really busy, the bars, restaurants, cafeterias," she said.
Ana then touched upon Spanish news headlines from recent weeks, which have been hinting at a possible "collapse" in tourism.
Focusing on one article, Ana underscored the phrase "die of success". She explained: "This is a typical Spanish phrase, 'die of success', that [something's] so, so, so successful that it's not even good any longer.
