Gartcairn boss Mick Dunlop admits beating Clydebank in their West of Scotland Premier Division opener on Saturday would be a great marker for their season. The Airdrie side host Gordon Moffat’s Bankies on Saturday, travel to Newlandsfield to face Pollok on Wednesday, and entertain St Cadoc’s at MTC Park on August 3.Dunlop has been pleased with his pre-season preparations and said:” It’s important to be as prepared as you can for when the real stuff begins on Saturday, and that’s what we’re concentrating on, now.“Clydebank are a really good side.

We played them twice last season, there was very little between the teams, and I’m expecting a really difficult game again.“It’s like every game in the West of Scotland Premier Division, every single team will pose challenges for you.“But ultimately we’ve just got to look after ourselves and make sure we’re right at it.”Dunlop added: “If you can go and win that match it would be a great start and a great way to get your league campaign off and running.“But I’m under no illusions about how difficult a game it’s going to be, and we’ll need to be at our best if we are going to win it.“They’re a very good side.“It’s one we’re really looking forward to and we’re at home, so it’s one where we will be looking to be at our best and hopefully win.”Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onX via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
