When Wolf Hall first graced our screens in 2015, it boasted a star-studded cast including Damian Lewis as Henry VIII and Mark Rylance as Thomas Cromwell.
However, as the sequel, Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light, returns, several familiar faces are missing.One notable change is the Duke of Norfolk, originally portrayed by Bernard Hill, but now played by Timothy Spall in his role as Anne Boleyn's uncle.Executive producer Peter Kosminsky revealed the heart-wrenching reason for Bernard's absence during a press conference.
He stated: "We made some changes in the cast for a variety of reasons."Obviously very, very sadly, Bernard Hill died not long before we got going so it wasn't possible for him to return as the Duke of Norfolk and Tim Spall...
I think the Duke of Norfolk is different in the new book. I think Tim fitted that really well." Bernard tragically died earlier this year at the age of 79, reports the Mirror.
