BBC teases Waterloo Road release date as star Kym Marsh performs Strictly moves on set

The BBC has released a new teaser for its upcoming series of Waterloo Road, revealing when fans will be able to catch the new look school drama.

The broadcaster confirmed back in September last year that it would be bringing back the much-loved series, which ran for 200 episodes over nine years from 2006.

Fans were hopeful that the show would return before 2022 is out after returning star Katie Griffiths, who plays Chlo Grainger, shared reunion snaps on her Instagram in January this year, writing in the caption: "Coming to @bbciplayer later this year." However, it seems fans have slightly longer to wait than anticipated after the BBC released a brief teaser for the new series on Instagram on Saturday night.

A video showing a blurry school scene with the highly-recognisable Waterloo Road theme tune playing over it showed a new look logo for the series in orange.
