Shirley Ballas has once again shut down the 'awful messages' she received in the wake of the latest Strictly Come Dancing exit.

The head judge came under fire after her vote sealed the fate of Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu in the BBC One dance contest. The singer and actor and his professional dance partner became the seventh couple to leave after landing in the dance-off for the third time last weekend.

They had earlier returned to the ballroom for week eight of Strictly's 2024 run with the notoriously difficult rumba, which they performed to Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper on Saturday night (November 9) before ending up in the bottom two where they went up against fellow couple Wynne Evans and Katya Jones during the seventh results show of Strictly's 20th-anniversary series. With two votes in favour of Shayne and Nancy, the decision came down to head judge Shirley, who decided to save Wynne and Katya.
