Tasha Ghouri has spoken about the 'heart-to-heart' she had with Aljaz Skorjanec as she questioned if she deserved to be on Strictly Come Dancing after receiving backlash for her previous dancing experience.
The former Love Island star and her pro partner Aljaz have topped the leaderboard six times in the last 10 weeks of the competition so far, but she has now told how she had second thoughts about her place on the BBC One show following "a lot of noise" about her previous dance training at Creative Academy, in Slough, and competing in big events.
Tasha told Closer magazine: "There was a lot of noise after we did the Charleston, and I started feeling like, 'Do I even deserve to be here?' There was a point in rehearsals where Aljaz and I had a heart-to-heart, and he picked me up and said I do deserve to be here. I let that noise cloud my head a bit in rehearsals but, eventually, I thought, 'I'm here for myself. I'm not going to let it get to me, and I'm going to work hard.' " The 34-year-old professional dancer added: "We have a great relationship, I feel like it's the easiest thing to overcome." Last night (November 23), the pair scored the first maximum 40-point score of the 22nd series after leaving judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke amazed with their American Smooth to Lewis Capaldi's 'Someone You Loved'.
