BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden leaves 'real void' as she opens up about return to ballroom

Amy Dowden has been told her absence from Strictly Come Dancing this year left a 'real void' as she was supported by her fans and co-stars following her much-welcomed return to the ballroom for the final.

The professional dancer surprised viewers of the BBC One dance contest on Saturday night (December 16) as this year's run of the competition came to an end.

Opening the grand final, Strictly's group of professional dancers took to the dance floor before Amy made a surprise appearance.

The 33-year-old was unable to have a celebrity partner on the hit dance show this year after being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer and undergoing treatment - including a mastectomy and chemotherapy.
