Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has revealed how Tom and Giovanna Fletcher embarked on an eight-hour round trip to visit her after she told them about her cancer diagnosis.

The dancer was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May last year. She shared the personal news after undergoing a mastectomy before later documenting going through eight rounds of chemotherapy.

She faced multiple complications before ringing the bell to signal the end of her treatment in November. Then last month, the Welsh star told her Instagram followers that there was now 'no evidence of disease' and that it was 'time to look ahead'.

She said she will not receive the "all clear" for five years due to her type of cancer, and that during that time she will continue to receive monthly injections and regular check-ups.
