Strictly Come Dancing is officially back for another year and fans now know the fifteen new partnerships for the 2024 series - but it has seen some professional dancers miss out.

The sparkly BBC One dance contest returned with a brand new series on Saturday night (September 14) with the pre-recorded launch show.

Hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman officially kicked off proceedings as they returned to the iconic ballroom. They were joined by some very familiar faces - the Strictly judges - who will be back to cast an expert eye over the array of routines set to come when the competition officially begins with the first live show next Saturday, September 21, on BBC1 and BBC iPlayer. There was a first for Michelle Tsiakkas as for the first time since joining Strictly in 2022, she was given a celebrity dance partner in the shape of EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick When Claudia asked Michelle about how she was feeling being partnered with a celebrity for the first time, Michelle answered: "It's a dream come true to finally be able to dance on that Strictly dance floor with a partner and what better partner than Jamie to dance with.
