BBC Radio 2's Claudia Winkleman fights tears as she says 'goodbye'

After three years at the helm of Radio 2, presenter Claudia Winkleman has officially quit her role on the broadcaster's Saturday morning slot.The 52 year old waved goodbye to her listeners on her final show on Saturday, 23 March, and said: "We’ve come to the end and I'm allergic to goodbyes but i do want to say many thanks yous, I would like to thank Helen and everyone at Radio 2." Her voice wavering as it sounded like she was fighting tears, she added: "But my biggest thanks are to you the listeners, I have worked in tele for 24 years and I have never been more nervous than I was taking over for Graham you were warm welcoming and so lovely to me... "I love your weekly messages and updates, I just want to say thank you so much." Hanging up her headphones, the host played one parting song, saying: "This is from me to you, it could only be this…" before playing Wonderwall by Oasis.

Her final songs included Here Comes The Sun by The Beatles, Common People by Paul Young, Tiny Dancer by Elton John and So What by Pink.

A surprise was even played for Claudia before she left, Liam Gallagher left her a voice message and said: "Hi Claudia, it's Liam Gallagher .

Congratulations and thanks for all the support over the years and being a true faithful." The Strictly Come Dancing star announced that she was leaving the show last year.
