BBC in turmoil over Strictly Come Dancing results show after elimination leaks

BBC has rejected the idea of broadcasting the Strictly Come Dancing results show live to outsmart an internet spoiler who has been wreaking havoc on the show by publishing the results ahead of time.The results show is recorded following the main live night show on Saturday night and is broadcast on Sunday evening.

However, someone called David Thorpe has been frustrating the producers by tweeting out the results before they are officially released.READ MORE: Ferne McCann's friends say they 'haven't heard from' star after voice note dramaNicknamed 'The Strictly Spolier', Thorpe has 60,000 followers on Twitter and posts the results shortly after the live show ends.Thorpe correctly revealed that singer and musician Matt Goss and his partner Nadia Bychkova had been eliminated from the show in a tweet sent at 7:56pm on Saturday evening (October 15).Just prior to breaking the news, the Strictly Spoiler quipped that "12 points separated these couples first time out" and that "you do not need to have read spoilers on the internet to know how this is going".It is unclear how Mr Thorpe is obtaining the information as audience members are sworn to secrecy.Despite the disruption, BBC bosses have said it would be too costly to produce the show live, according to a report in The Sun.Strictly used to broadcast the results show live but switched the format after then-host Bruce Forsyth – who was 80 at the time – started struggling to host shows on both nights.To stay up to date with all the latest news, make sure you sign up to one of our newsletters here.A TV insider told The Sun that doing both shows live "would cost huge amounts of money" and is therefore not on the table.
