The BBC has received more than 500 complaints about the inclusion of Black Lives Matter symbols within their screening of London's NYE fireworks display.
The corporation's internal regulator's fortnightly complaints report counted 500 viewers "unhappy the New Year fireworks display referenced Black Lives Matter." As Big Ben's bongs rang out across London and on TV screens across the country, the BBC's cameras captured fireworks exploding, alongside drones forming inspiring messages in the sky.
The drones spelt out a giant 2021, and also clenched-fist symbols, which became recognised worldwide amid the protests which followed the death of Minnesota man George Floyd in police custody in May.
